An exploration of the places where social activism and art meet, the Troublemakers’ festival was curated in collaboration with local people and took over Swansea’s High Street for two days.
Community groups were helped to write commissions for artists. Local shops, cafes and businesses became venues, helping them benefit from increased visitor numbers. The High Street was closed to traffic and became a skate park, playground, and venue for street performers. A daily festival lunch brought together artists and audiences in a local cafe. Guest artists included Mark Thomas, Stella Duffy, Charlie Tolfree, and Bernadette Russell
